International cooperation between MVSO and JMC students on healthcare digitalisation

Moravian Business College Olomouc (MVSO), in cooperation with the Jerusalem Multidisciplinary College (JMC), recently hosted the intensive practical component of a new international course, Management of Healthcare Organisations. Focused on the digital transformation of healthcare, the course brings together students from the Czech Republic and Israel into international teams working on projects addressing current challenges in the sector.

After two months of virtual cooperation, participants met in person in Olomouc to engage in workshops, lectures, and site visits. The programme opened with a session led by Dr Lior Naamati-Schneider from JMC, who introduced students to the topic of digitalisation in the era of artificial intelligence. Dr Naamati-Schneider highlighted: “This course is a unique opportunity for our students to engage deeply with the challenges of digitalisation in an international context. Collaboration among students from different countries offers a much broader perspective and allows them to see how diverse healthcare systems respond to technological change.”

Students visited Olomouc University Hospital, where Ing. Antonín Hlavinka presented projects in the fields of eHealth and telemedicine. Further inspiration came from the Olomouc-based startup KardiAI, which presented innovative solutions for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

The programme featured two expert lectures. The first, delivered by Prof Vera Antonia Büchner from Technische Hochschule Nürnberg, focused on change management in healthcare digitalisation. In the second lecture, Prof Shir Dafna Tekoa from Ashkelon Academic College addressed crisis management and the ethical dilemmas faced by healthcare professionals during emergencies.

The programme was also attended by JUDr. Vladimír Lichnovský, Deputy Governor of the Olomouc Region for Healthcare, who outlined the region’s healthcare priorities and presented the OLIVIE prevention project. He underscored the importance of international cooperation in education and innovation.

The course programme concluded with final project presentations by the international student teams, who shared their outcomes and received expert feedback from academic staff. The event marked the culmination of an intensive international learning experience that equipped students with new insights and practical skills.

“This course reflects our ongoing commitment to integrating academic learning with real-world application while fostering opportunities for international student cooperation. We believe that the experience gained will equip students with the competencies essential for successful careers in a global environment,” concluded Tomáš Jelínek, MVSO Vice-Rector for Research, Development and Innovation.
